Marimekko
For my final print for the project brief of scale and space I looked at works but the brand Marimekko and in particular Maija Isola for my inspiration. Maija Isola creates her prints by focusing on various techniques and themes and as we were working to the idea mark marking I felt Isola's work fitted my ideas. There is also a link within the colour palette and shapes which have been created within our works.

Grant Wood
Focusing on Grant Woods American Gothic as the influence for this project, I created my own version. My picture is a series of photocopied images before being enlarged to A3 where it will taken into various mediums like Collagraph, etching and dry points and will be combined together to make a print. I chose to a very British theme for my print as I wanted contrast Wood's work and pick iconic people and features which is traditional to Britain.

Brice Marden
Working on brief for Wytham woods and the Natural History museum I was experimenting with various different media to resemble trees. I was looking through many different sources for inspiration and came across Marden's work and how the uncertainty of lines reminds me of trees. I liked the way he experimented with the layers of lines on top of each other and I wanted to bring this idea to my work. I layered up my response with the colours red, white and black similar to what Marden did and took this idea to inks and the fluidity this creates and also screen-prints.

Tomoko Nakamichi
Tomoko Nakamichi designs inspired me to create this piece from his book Pattern Magic. The idea was to create a garment based on Postmodern fashion and whilst researching I came across his book which showcased a variety of patterns with intricate and stylized designs. I wanted to take his idea and expand on it. My work shown is a sample before the final piece.

Scott Schuman's The Sartorialist
Under a brief on Dada and the idea of chance I wanted to focus my mark making of black and white media into a fashion outcome. I looked how the mark making can resemble various garments and fashion outcomes. I needed a subject matter and as I enjoy taking photos I looked at Scott Schuman's work as The Sartorialist. I have always enjoyed reading his blog and has always been an influence within my work and felt it only fitting for him to be incorporated in my work.
