Chuck Close

For a printmaking brief we were working with the idea of a reductive print and the building up of colour on the face resembles various tonal qualities. I used a photograph of my dog from when I was younger as my subject matter and built up the picture to in a series of black and white colours with various tonal variations to each one. I used about 4 different colours to create my print. The inspiration behind my work of just using black and white was Chuck Closes's self portrait which uses the same process as my work. I feel by using the simple like Close's work it creates a very realistic effect.
