In the early stages of my research for singles and multiples I was experimenting with various ideas. For my research I looked at Andy Warhol's series of Marilyn Manroe. I took inspiration from Warhol because he has built up this picture by using one image and this is the idea that inspired me for the project as he uses one image to portray multiples of Marilyn.

Joanna Kinnersly- Taylor
To take my designs of Yohji Yamamoto further I experimented with cutting out shapes from pattern shapes and this influence was taken from this image of Joanna Kinnersly-Taylor's work Belfast. This appealed me to because she has used such a simple idea of a pattern piece but turned it into informative piece as it reflects the history of Belfast and its linen weaving industry. I also like the idea how Taylor has broken up the various circles with thick lines. I wanted to take this idea and use machine stitch to replicate this idea.
Yohji Yamamoto
For my textiles project based on singular and multiples, I used Yohji Yamamoto's work as the main basis of my work. I started off by experimenting with one image and then repeating over and over again to create a multiple effect. This image shot by Yamamoto really appealed to me because the simplicity of the jump created a basic shape which I felt could fit with my idea of layering up images. To carry on this idea of influence I worked with screen prints and altered the size and space between this images so they stand alone and in a group. Working in screen prints allowed me to experiment with colour against Yamamoto's black and white image. The main reason I used screen prints was to combine this image of a jumping and turn it into a garment with the idea of taking influence from Yamomotos fashion work.
